Talk Moves

I am sure you have all seen some version of the 'Talk Moves' I have been using these heaps with my group (Year 5s) and in class. They inspire more talk and more explanation at maths time from student to student and student to teacher. It takes the focus off the answer being all important and ensure students know what they are doing and how they are doing it. Great for word problems. Focus on a couple at a time.... Wait time is a good start point and revoicing.

I have found that sometimes you can have quite a lengthy conversation and debate about a concept like a tidy number and you will often uncover misconceptions. Gotta love a tidy number! 

If you want I will laminate you a A4 poster for the classroom. It would be good to get the students familiar with the talk moves school wide.

Digi Digest #11

Welcome to Digi Digest#11 We are in the planning phase for 2020 when our new digital ambassador team (Michaela, Amanda, Ash and Jack),with help from David Kinane, will be ready to help us implement the Digital Curriculum into our programmes.  In the meantime h ere are a few ideas to help create some new digital  outcomes to help with our focus on technology this term. We now have 11 Makey Makeys available for use.  Students of all ages had great fun making musical  instruments with them at holiday coding club.  There are so many ways makey makeys can be used to explain circuitry and create interactive outcomes such as (musical instruments, lights, sensors and interactive posters.)
